Mancala

Mancala is the first product in our new line of board games we call our "Ancient
Games Series". Mancala is considered to be the most ancient board game on Earth; believed to have
originated in Ancient Africa circa 1400 BC. Stone Mancala boards have
been found carved into the roofs of temples in Memphis, Thebes and Luxor of that
period. Over the centuries this wonderful game has endured and is still the most
popular board game in Africa and the Caribbean. It is slowly finding a home in
the United States and everyone here at Green Mountain Blocks thinks it's
about time. Mancala is not a game of chance or luck but simple and intriguing
logic that can be played by young and old alike. The rules to play are simple
but the subtleties of winning take a long time to master.
Our Mancala board games are made from the same quality
hardwoods as our blocks and come with: 50 multi colored glass nuggets for
playing pieces, a sturdy drawstring bag to hold them in, playing instructions,
and a lifetime guarantee. Each board is 22 inches long, 6 inches wide and
1&1/4 inches thick. Just like our blocks, we make our Mancala boards to last
for generations to come. Our only caution is that unlike our block sets, the
playing pieces in our Mancala board game are small enough to present a choking
hazard to young infants and toddlers and so we recommend this game for ages 5
and up. Click here for game rules.
